Branding, Access & Sharing

Once your app's schema is in good shape, App Configuration is where you set how it looks and who can get in — and your app's dashboard has what you need to actually hand it to people.

Identity & appearance

From App Configuration:

• App Name and Description — shown in the admin panel, the client app header, and app cards.
• Custom icon — upload a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or SVG (max 2MB). This is what shows up everywhere your app is listed — until you upload one, a default icon is used.
• Brand Colour — the primary colour for the client app's header.

Access

• Public Access — when on, anyone can browse the app's records without logging in (read-only). Leave off for anything that shouldn't be visible to the public.
• Allow Registration — when on, people can create their own account from the sign-up screen. Turn it off for an invite-only app where you create every account yourself (see Roles, Permissions & Users).

Navigation

Default Collection sets which collection opens first when someone launches the app. Leave it blank to use the first collection in your schema.

Sharing the app

Your app's dashboard has a Share & access card with two ways in:

• Web link — a direct URL that opens the app in a browser.
• App ID — a short code people can type into the Open with ID tab of the Apps launcher to find the app directly, without it needing to be public.

If you haven't set a default role for sign-ups yet, this card reminds you to do that first — new accounts need a role to actually see or do anything.

What people see when they open it

The first time someone opens your app on a given device, they see a short intro screen with your app's name, icon, and description before they're asked to sign in — a quick "here's what this is" before the sign-in screen. After that, it's straight to sign-in (or straight into the app, if they're already signed in).

On Android, once someone is signed in, they can pin the app straight to their home screen with your app's own icon, so it opens like any other installed app from then on.
